Overview

Leaving from Porto, meet your tour guide at 08:30 a.m and travel to the beautiful Douro Valley in a comfortable climatized vehicle. After the first stretch of the journey you will be visiting a small family owned vineyard, with a wine tasting of their own production. Next enjoy a scenic drive through the world famous National Road 222, to the heart of the Douro Valley (Pinhão) where we will embark on the unique experience of doing a short 1 hour cruise in the Douro River, to soak in the beautiful landscape while admiring the terraced hills with the quintessential vineyards and estates that turn the margins of the Douro River into one of the most unique in the world. Then, in order to complete this experience, enjoy a traditional lunch in a vineyard of a small-medium producer, finishing with a delicious port wine tasting, at their cellars. After a full day of exploration and discovery, relax and enjoy your journey back to Porto.

Meeting Point

Normally on this option pick ups starts at 8:30 am. If we need to change it we will contact you. Please meet us at the main entrance of Bolsa Palace, on the sidewalk by the street. We will send a message trough the App with final details (pick up hour and photos of the meeting point).

Pickup Details

Pick ups will be between 8:30 - 9:00 am. We will contact customers by message (trough the App) with final details. Be aware that we need confirmation of every customer regarding the meeting point and pick up hour, when we send the message through the App. If you will not answer through the App, we will try to reach you by phone. Please make sure your number is correct. We normally try WhatsApp first and then we call if we don't have an answer.

What To Expect

1. Lamego After meeting with your tour guide, leave from Porto, and travel to the beautiful Douro Valley in a comfortable climatized vehicle.

2. After the first stretch of the journey and having arrived to the Douro Valley, we will be visiting a small family owned vineyard, with a wine tasting of their own production. Here we will have a commented wine tasting we will also enjoy some wonderfull views of the terraced hills that make the Douro Valley so unique. 1 hour

3. Douro River After the first winery, enjoy a scenic drive through the world famous National Road 222, to the heart of the Douro Valley, the beautifull village of Pinhão.

4. Pinhao In Pinhão we will embark on the unique experience of doing a short 1 hour river cruise, to soak in the beautiful landscape while admiring the terraced hills with the quintessential vineyards and estates that turn the margins of the Douro River into a true "Geologic Poem" 1 hour

5. Miradouro Torguiano De Sao Cristovao Do Douro After the scenic cruise it´s time to drive up the hills, through the windy Douro roads and get on our way to Sabrosa, for lunch. It´s time to discover more of what the Douro Valley has to offer and to enjoy the breathtaking views from up the mountains.

6. Sabrosa In Sabrosa we will stop at another family owned winery, where we will have a traditional portuguese lunch complete with 4 courses, entrance, salad, main dish and dessert, all paired with their delicious Douro red and white wine. For the grande finale we will visit their cellar where we will try some of their fantastic ports. After a full day of exploration and discovery, relax and enjoy your journey back to Porto. 2 hours

The day before the tour, you will receive the exact pickup details regarding pickup, meeting point and time;
Parents should bring the baby car seat ajusted to infant's age (1 to 3 years old). We only have seats available after 4 years old.
This tour may be done in two languages. We try to avoid it, but sometimes we have no other solution.
This tour has two different options, with or without hotel pick up. If you choose the option with the meeting point this tour may or may not be done in a minibus or bus. If you choose the Small Group with hotel pick up option, this tour will be done on a minivan and a group of up to 8 people;
For the ones that choose hotel pick-up, if your accomodation is not in a very easy to reach location, we might ask you to meet us at a close by location;
Private option it's done in a private vehicle only with your private guide. The vineyards and rest of the locations are shared with other participants.
For lunch we provide meet, fish, vegan and vegetarian option.
We do tours all year round, in the winter it is cold and in the summer it's hot, please dress appropriately
There is not much walking involved, but please bring comfortable shoes;
Don´t forget to bring your camera with you!
This tour last around 9 hours, but it´s subject to local traffic conditions or visit schedules;
Reschedulings with less than 24 hours before the start of the tour will be charged a 30% fee (subject to availability);
The order of the tour or partners visit are subject to change depending on availability;

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel up to 24 hours in advance of the experience for a full refund.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

The very best experience of Douro Valley wine Tour

I totally enjoyed my time, our Host Rita and Pedro were so gracious and very entertaining, provided us with so much information and history on Porto & Douro Valley. I had a last minute change to my booking and Rita was so kind to accommodate. Highly recommend if you love beautiful views , wine and enlightened conversations.

Of course fantastic views and wine! But what adds extra star rating to our experience is that we were well taken care of from start to finish. Everyone was made to feel special and respected. We loved the good three course lunch. Humane approach from the companies involved and especially our guides Pedro and Rita. Thank you so much!!

Pedro and team were amazing! We felt very welcomed to the culture of Portugal and learned so much about wine! Super accommodating and so much fun! Bus was very nice with air con! It starts cold but gets very hot at the end because of the change in climate and landscape. Highly recommend !!!
