Overview

Fujairah, a historical city in the United Arab Emirates, dominated by the Sharqiyin tribe, sits at the mouth of the important trade route, the Wadi Ham (which is guarded by the Sharqiyin Al Bithnah Fort), through the mountains to the interior and the Persian Gulf Coast. Known as the Shamaliyah, the east coast of what is now the UAE was subject to Muscat until 1850, when it was annexed by Al Qasimi of Sharjah, in an agreement made between Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi and the Sultan of Muscat.[2] The Shamaliyah was governed by Al-Qasimi Wali at Kalba although frequently seceded and in 1901 Sheikh Hamad bin Abdullah Al Sharqi, chief of the Sharqiyin, declared independence from Sharjah.

What To Expect

1. One of the most beautiful areas nestled between the Hajar mountains on the east coast of UAE. The Valley and the surrounding Hajar Mountain terrain is subsequently an area of natural beauty. It is represented by narrow mountain tracks – best tackled by 4 x4 vehicles – rocky outcrops, traditional settlements, farmland and date palm plantations; offers rewarding opportunities for experiencing striking natural scenery, hiking and camping. This hidden gem is now much more accessible from the new Khorfakkan road 142. 45 minutes

2. A unique way to explore Khorfakkan’s mountains, Cloud lounge is a recently built mountain-side rest stop that lies 600 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views across Khorfakkan. As you pass through the entrance, you will find a range of wonderful facilities including a luxury restaurant. The complex, built with a carefully-designed, safe road includes viewing points along the way. 1 hour

3. Al Rafisah Dam A beautiful dam is hidden away from the usual tourist attractions. This dam is so attractive, serene, and calming that you won’t feel like leaving it. In winter, when the monsoon here is active, the Al Rafisah dam is full of blue water, and this massive dam fills your heart and soul. To see a dam right in the desert is unique. Not many visitors come here. Hence it would help if you took the time to be with yourself here. Take pictures, enjoy the lush greenery around here and give yourself quality me-time. During the sunset and sunrise, the dam, the water, the sky, and the sun; all these elements create a visual orchestra! 30 minutes

4. Khorfakkan, Heart Beach Khor Fakkan Beach is undoubtedly the most beautiful beach in UAE. It is very silent, evident, and very serene. With a backdrop of imposing Hajar Mountains, this beach gives you the best experience, especially because you travel from s far away. This beach is suitable for even sitting and experiencing silence, with the sea very calm. 30 minutes

5. Khorfakkan Waterfall The waterfall is one of the most prominent tourist and entertainment additions to the tourist scene in Khor Fakkan in particular, and the Emirate of Sharjah in general. 30 minutes
