The, experience this region’s rich culinary history with a two-course lunch and some local apple cider.

Meeting Point

The meeting point is located in front of the Church Notre-Dame de Compassion (Place du Général Kœnig, 75017 Paris). The City Wonders representative, dressed in blue and holding a City Wonders sign, will be standing in the middle of the Place du Général Koening, in front of the Church.

End Point

This activity ends back at the meeting point.

What To Expect

1. Musee du Debarquement Utah Beach You’ll join your expert guide in Paris aboard a comfortable, private coach. On the way to Normandy, learn the details of the Allied preparations for D-Day, the largest amphibious assault in history. Your guide, a fluent English-speaker, will stay with you throughout the tour to tell the story of the operation and answer questions from history buffs and curious minds. On Utah Beach, your first stop, the Allies quickly defeated the German forces. You’ll visit an extraordinary D-Day museum housed in an old German bunker on the landing beach itself. The collection here brings home both the scale and the personal sacrifice involved in the operation, with an original B-26 airplane on display along with collections of soldiers’ letters home. 40 minutes
2. Utah Beach Discover Utah Beach where the Allies landed on the morning of 6th June 1944. 30 minutes
3. Office de Tourisme intercommunal de Grandcamp-Maisy Next, experience some of the culture and traditions of Normandy. Many Allied soldiers found shelter with local farmers. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to tour one, featuring a 17th-century barn, locally-made apple cider and traditional apple brandy. Lunch is served at a restaurant in a quiet port nearby. 1 hour
4. Pointe du Hoc After your meal, your coach takes you to Pointe du Hoc. From Pointe du Hoc, you’ll get a sense of the challenges the Allies faced, with views of the English Channel – and intimidating cliffs blocking access inland. Cliffs combined with enemy fire to make the landing at Omaha Beach a desperate battle for survival. 40 minutes
5. Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer We’ll also have the opportunity to pay our respects to the fallen at the American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer. The cemetery is located on a bluff that overlooks Omaha Beach, which was one of the landing beaches of the D-Day invasion. Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., son of President Theodore Roosevelt and a Medal of Honor recipient, is buried here together with the almost 10,000 soldiers who sacrificed their lives. Your guide will use the time spent driving to provide enriching commentary and answer questions, preparing you for each stop on the tour. You'll have time to look around the cemetery, visit the wall of the missing and awe-inspiring memorial, and look down upon Omaha, the beach where the Allies faced the stiffest resistance and suffered the most casualties. The journey back to Paris gives you time to reflect on all you’ve seen – and the tremendous courage and sacrifice of those who fought here. 45 minutes
6. Omaha Beach From the American Cemetery, you can see Omaha Beach, one of the landing beaches where many American soldiers are buried. Inside the Omaha Beach Visitor Centre, gain insight into the landings that did not fare accordingly to plan. 15 minutes

Loved the Trip, Hated the Cider

Published on Jul, 2024

The tour was wonderful. Eric and Ash are very knowledgeable and interesting. We had about 80 minutes at Utah Beach (I think the reviews saying less were around D-Day when there was high traffic) followed by lunch which was good. I would have been happier without the cider tasting; it was nothing special and took away time that could have been spent better elsewhere or making the day slightly shorter. Point du Hoc was really neat and the Cemetery was truly moving. It all makes for a very long day and it is exhausting, but a great time of learning and reflection.

Normandy by bus from Paris

John was a very knowledgeable and interesting guide, a great trip, but longer could have been enjoyed at the museum at Utah Beach. Meal was adequate, as were the condition and frequency of the pit stops. A thoroughly enjoyable trip.

Long but worth it!

Great tour! Sam and Emma were very knowledgeable guides and I appreciated how they split the tour responsibilities between them. Sam had a wide historical knowledge and detailed the particulars of the lead up to WWI and WWII on the drive to Normandy for those who were interested and too awake to sleep, which was nice. Emma was very personable and gave great tips for where to eat and/or go in Paris after the end of the tour. The tour is quite long, so definitely not for the faint of heart, but I think it was well worth it. Tip: when they stop halfway for a food/bathroom break on the way to Normandy, women, make sure you jump on the bathroom line quickly if you can. If you also want food, and you have multiple party members, have some people get food and those who need to pee, pee. It’s very hard to get both accomplished in the time they give you since the bathroom line gets long. There’s not as much urgency for the pit stop on the way home.

Great trip to Normandy!

We had a great trip with John as our tour guide. It was an amazing trip and very educational. John was funny and helpful. My only complaint is that he didn’t talk the entire time. Not that he didn’t spend a good deal of time educating and enlightening us. He definitely did that. He was just so good at it I didn’t want him to stop. I can’t recommend this tour and this guide enough.

Great experiece

Great and impactful way to explore Normandy when you only have a day. Guide brought to life the importance of this region's history in a comfortable and friendly manner. Its a lot to take in and moves pretty quick, but highly recommend.
