Slip through the non-touristy bar/restaurant zones of Namba: hole in the wall establishments, as well as Kuromon seafood markets. Also the retro district will share its charm with wacky game palors & friendly street vendors while the Dotonbori will provide the a sensory overload with all its billboards. Osaka Castle will showcase it's immense role in the unification of Japan in 16th century (only 4hr or 5hr tour) After, explore hidden cobblestone alleys uncovering a centuries old collection of stores crafting their unique designs.

What To Expect

1. Hozenji Yokocho These hard to find winding, cobblestone alleys steeped with character & tradition is remarkable . We'll also find walls painted with Osaka's history etched into it. 20 minutes

2. Dotonbori Tsuribori Visiting Osaka's Dotonbori River is a must.....one of our highlights. Along side this picturesque scene is a treasure trove full of more than a variety of stores to entertain you. 45 minutes

3. Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street Japanese fashion is unique, wonderful and crazy. Also see the wacky and cool gadget stores. 20 minutes

4. New New Ebisubashi The original bridge was made out of wood in the 1600's...more than 400yrs later it still stand but now made out of iron. It is at the very heart of Osaka and is known as the local meeting spot. 15 minutes

5. America Mura We'll guide you to hidden streets in this area where it has Japan's version of what they think America is. hahah, it even has a statue of liberty on top of a building 15 minutes

6. Kuromon Market (almost always get here on a 3hr tour..depends how fast the group walks) We'll step into some fish market stores that look unremarkable from the outside but when inside exposes seafood heaven. Watch a store cut and prepare a fugu(puffer fish). Learn how to cut a tuna.... Salmon sashimi is some of the best I've had in Japan. 15 minutes

7. Nipponbashi Denden Town (almost always get here on a 3hr tour..depends how fast the group walks) It's tricky navigating these tucked away quirky stores. Thats what we're here for...to take you to the gaming & cosplay zone and explore your inner nerdy side hahaha

8. Shinsekai (ONLY AVAILABLE ON 4HR, 5HR OR 7HR PRIVATE TOUR) We'll take you wayyy of the beaten path to discover the retro zone where the Osakan locals show their true colors. From crazy fishing restaurants to boardgame gaming shops to retro video machine arcades to old vinyl record stores. 30 minutes

9. Tower Knives Osaka (ONLY ON THE 4HR OR 5HR PRIVATE TOUR) We get a private knife lesson here. Understand the whole process of how a knife is made (crafted at the rear of the building). After you'll get to experience cutting with these world famous knives of Sakai (made in the south of Osaka). This lesson is included in the price. 15 minutes

10. Abeno Harukas (ONLY AVAILABLE ON 5HR OR 7HR PRIVATE TOUR) Standing an impressive and staggering 300m tall, Abeno Harukasu is Japan's tallest building (not structure or tower). Staggering! 20 minutes

11. Shitennoji (ONLY AVAILABLE ON 5HR OR 7HR PRIVATE TOUR) It is the first Buddhist and oldest officially administered temple in Japan. A temple that exudes spirituality...even if you're not religious like me. 30 minutes

12. Osaka Castle (ONLY AVAILABLE ON 5HR OR 7HR PRIVATE TOUR) Osaka's most notable structure. The park surrounding will also be explored mentioning its role in how it unified Japan! 1 hour 10 minutes

13. Morimoto Tatami Shop (ONLY AVAILABLE ON A 7HR PRIVATE TOUR & IF ITS OPEN...OWNERS AREN'T OPEN ON SET DAYS)This concealed tatami shop off the main shopping area gives us a class on how the tatami mats are made with the igusa rush grass. Very unique experience! 15 minutes

14. Osaka Museum of Housing and Living (ONLY AVAILABLE ON 7HR PRIVATE TOUR) I'm not a huge fan of museums, but this one is very different. The highlight is a reconstruction of an ancient Osaka town featuring houses, stores and homes of the wealthy & commoners. 45 minutes

Brilliant walking tour!

Anna was an amazing tour guide that took us to one of our favourite local markets during our time in Japan. She was very knowledgeable and funny and our group of 5 would 100% recommend. It was a great introduction to Osaka and we definitely visited some places away from the more more touristy areas which is what we were after. Thank you for the great experience!

We enjoyed the personality and hospitality of the tour guide. Our tour guide had extensive knowledge of everything we saw and was able to articulate it in a way that everyone could understand. Had many great suggestions for food, sight seeing, and information on using the subway system

It was a great experience to tour Osaka with a local guide - Rahat made the experience fun and interesting for our family of 4 with 2 boys ages 10 and 12. It was exactly what we were looking for in wanting to know a bit more of the history, local info, and exploring the neighborhoods. Thank you so much!

One of our favourite tours in Japan

This was one of our fav tours. Our tour guide was great. He shared a lot of knowledge about Japanese culture and was relatable to us as he was from Melbourne. Our 11yr old enjoyed him also and he took her to a crazy vending machine that we dont have in Australia, cake in a can! :)

Sisters Reunion in Osaka!

I purchased this walking tour for my daughters and granddaughter. They were celebrating their combined birthdays, meeting up in Osaka and staying for a few days together...this was my birthday gift to them. The feedback has been phenomenal! From the moment they were met in the lobby of their hotel by their guide - until they waved him off 4 hours later - they were so impressed with his knowledge plus he kept them entertained the whole time!
