Booked this tour before arriving in Vietnam and all contact with the organiser was efficient and easy. We were messaged the day before by our guide, Justin, who confirmed our pick up time and stayed in touch on the morning to ensure we had everything we needed to make the most of the tour.
The tour started with a stop off to see rice paper being made and have a go for ourselves. This in itself was evidfence of the small details which make for the overall experience. The stop was a nondesript dwelling by the side of the road, but once inside we were treated to friendly vietnamese hospitality by the lady who shared her house with us to demonstrate the work she did. The fact this was so low key and not some tourist centred operation gave us a real insight into how these small, family businesses operate.
Then on to the tunnels and a well paced, informative tour by Justin who was articulate and enthusiastic, happy to talk about all aspects of the war and the consequences for the vietnamese people and coutry. A great balance of information and exploration as we tried the tunnels for ourselves. My son and i were happy to go through every tunnel, though some were quite challenging, especially in the heat.
The site of the tunnels wasn't busy, we were never rushed and we got to see everything at our own pace. This tour advertises itself specifically as more personal than the more popular alternative site as a little further away but much quieter and while i can't say how it compared to that other site, i was glad i chose this tour.
